Laser hair removal works with a highly concentrated beam of light energy into hair follicles, causing damage to the matrix of cells in the hair bulb and reducing growth a percentage at each phase.
After your initial 6-8 treatments, laser hair removal creates a permanent reduction and may require small touch-ups as needed. Best candidates for laser hair removal are patients with dark, thick, coarse hair. However, all hair with any color will work. (Will not work on blonde, grey, or white hair.)
In most cases, laser hair removal causes minimal pain, especially when you compare it to other hair removal methods such as waxing or threading. Many patients state that it feels like a rubber band snaps. Of course, the area being lasered and your personal pain tolerance will dictate the pain level associated with laser hair removal. In our office, we also can offer anesthetic options for highly sensitive areas
